This is very elegant Edwardian silver wirework vase was made by the Haseler Brothers who specialised in wirework objects. The tapered wirework body with a solid silver rim. The wirework section applied with delicate cast silver ribbon-tied garlands. Fitted with a Bristol blue glass liner.

This large and unique piece was made in London 1906 by the reputed Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company. It was most probably a commission piece for a wealthy collector. The deep, heavy gauge, spot-hammered silver bowl raised on three cast dolphin feet, the upper section with a simple band of raised roundels.
The base impressed "GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS COMANY 112 REGENT STREET. W" and engraved 1931 to 1950, possibly a commemoration date.

Hallmarks:

G&SCo Ltd for the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company.
Lion Passant.
London Assay mark.
Date letters "l" for 1906.

This impressive Victorian silver plated palm tree table centre-piece was made by the renowned Sheffield firm Henry Wilkinson & Co*. The stunning naturalistic palm tree foliage, standing on a cast pedestal of enriched character.


*Henry Wilkinson & Co was involved in the manufacture of Old Sheffield Plate and was the second firm in Sheffield to receive a licence for the use of the electroplating system (1843).
Various pieces of its production were successfully exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851.

The stunning cast pedestal modelled with rope-tied classical masks and raised on three legs with paw terminal and lion masks heads. Fitted with a stunning vaseline glass dish with flame final at the base.

JD&S under PNS in a shield shaped cartouche: Electroplated marks of James Dixon & Sons for 1848 to 1878.
