This novelty Edwardian silver "hatching chick" pin cushion was designed by the collectable Sampson Mordan & Co and is fully hallmarked for Chester 1907.
It is the small example.
The pin cushion is designed as a newly hatched chick sitting in half an egg shell. It is beautifully detailed, with the chick's back being the cushion, which is finished in pink velvet.
The chick is 'weighted' in such a way that, should it be knocked over, it will 'right' itself.
