This is a gorgeous late Victorian solid silver patience double card box. Made by the celebrated Chester silversmiths Nathan & Hayes and dated 1900. Of rectangular form and profusely embossed with foliate scrolls, the hinged domed cover opening to reveal a rich gilt interior.
Fitted with the original and complete pair of Patience playing cards.

This delightful silver and egg spoon cased set is dated Birmingham 1911. Complete cased egg sets are few and far between and this is a very sweet example. The simple and leegant cup raised on a circular base, the matching silver Fiddle Pattern spoon free from engravings.
Fitted in the original case, with black leather exterior and dark blue velvet and satin interior.

This gorgeous pierced silver sugar basket is dated Chester 1896 and nears the marks of the renowned Nathan & Hayes. The navette-shaped body exquisitely pierced with lattice and foliate scrolls surrounding two cartouches, one side vacant, the other engraved with a griffin.
Reeded border and swing handle. The handle hallmarked with Lion passant.
It is fitted with the original and rather beautiful turquoise soda glass liner. A rare colour.
Good silver gauge, wonderful quality.

This is a very decorative pair of Old Sheffield Plate decanter coasters. The everted sides applied with elaborate foliate scroll borders. The turned fruitwood bases with a silver button engraved with a crest representing a stag. The sides with wrythen fluting. The base with green baize.

Some base metal showing through, sit firmly.
Wooden bases in good condition.
Replacement green baize at the bottom, probably replaced in the Victorian era.

FABULOUS VICTORIAN SILVER INKSTAND BY CHARLES EDWARD ...

This beautiful Victorian silver inkstand was made by Charles Edward Nixon and is dated Sheffield 1893. The shaped oval base with a raised border embossed wth floral patterns. The underside with four ball feet and the centre with a recess housing a detachable cut glass silver lidded inkwell.
The glass inkwell is the same date 1893, but a different Assay, Birmingham and maker, Henry Matthews. It is a very good fit and could very well have been the original inkwell despite bearing different maker's marks.
