This exquisite and rather rare solid silver pin cushion in the form of a canoe is dated Birmingham 1905 and bears the mark of the sought-after silversmiths Saunders & Shepherd. The spot hammered silver casing fitted with a blue velvet cushion. The base fully hallmarked.

This exquisite 19th Century French Palais Royal "Grand Tour" sewing companion dates circa 1860. The circular alabaster base supporting a mother of pearl and gilt mounted egg below a bird catch, the gilt interior with thimble, stiletto, scissors and a bodkin, the other bodkin missing. The eagle finial operates as a spring push mechanism. When turned anti clockwise and gently pushed down, it opens to reveal a fitted gilt interior. The underside of the alabaster base lined with the original turquoise paper. These "Grand Tour" sewing companions are few and far between and this is a lovely example in great condition.

This rare and delightful Edwardian sterling silver pin cushion is dated Birmingham 1909 and was made by the prolific silversmiths Cohen & Charles. The hallmarked sterling silver head is embellished with textured decoration realistically reproducing the bird’s plumage. The body of the chick is comprised of a later recovered blue velvet cushion.

This body supported by two feet raised on a circular base. The base loaded and retaining the original leatherette.
