Description

This delightful George III solid silver caddy spoon is dated Birmingham 1795 and was made by the prolific silversmith John Taylor, who specialised in small pieces and objects of vertu. The oval bowl pierced with a band of keyhole between prick-dot decorations. The handle engraved with stylised motifs surrounding a vacant reserve. The back fully hallmarked. This is a very useable caddy spoon as it is a good size. The holes allowed for impurities in the tea leaves to sift through before use.
