Description
This is a very collectable and rather scarce Victorian silver & porcelain novelty "hazelnut" scent bottle. The porcelain body, very realistically modelled, bears the registration mark Rd No 88920, issued in 1889 to James Macintyre & Co Ltd, Washington China Works, Burslem.The sterling silver top and screw collar bearing the marks of the celebrated silversmiths Saunders & Shepherd.
Hallmarks:
CS*FS for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings Shepherd.
Birmingham Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "P" for 1889.
