This rare and exquisite 18th Century French silver travelling etui dates circa 1780. Of oval section and tapering form, chased all over with foliate scrolls and set with five aventurine blue and gold panels. The front with push button opening to reveal a fitted interior. The tools comprising a pair of steel scissors with oval silver loops, a hallmarked miniature silver pencil, a pair of steel dividers, s silver bodkin, an ear wax spoon.

In Georgian times, etuis (word of French origin) were very popular. They were small, usually ornamental cases for holding articles such as needles, scent bottles, grooming items.

Hallmarks:

Unmarked as was often the case with these type of objects but tested as silver.

Dimensions:

Height: 9cm / 3.4 inches.
Width at widest: 4cm / 1.4 inches.

Condition:

Very good for its age.
A good selection of tools still present.
Push button mechanism still opens and closes satisfactorily.
Good hinge.
Aventurine panels all intact.

This is an exquisite and rather rare late 18th Century English silver travelling etui. Of tapered form, both sides richly decorated with embossed flowers and mythical birds. The hinged cover operated by a push button to the front. The remaining tools comprising a steel blade, a silver toothpick and a silver case.

This is a rare cube shaped Art Deco silver trumps marker. Each side inset with celluloid panels picturing the four suits and with two plain sides for "No Trumps". Hallmarked for Birmingham 1924, it bears the marks of Lawrence Emanuel, who specialised in unusual Novelty items.

This charming silver and pique tortoiseshell "souvenir" aide memoire or carnet de bal was made in France circa 1880. Of rounded rectangular form, the front inlaid with silver pique decorations surrounding an initialled cartouche. The back inlaid with a small silver motif. The original pencil slides out and allows the opening of the case. The interior with teal moire silk. The original pages with days of the week preceded by a souvenir notebook. Exquisite!

This delightful solid silver bookmark was made by the prolific silversmiths Crisford & Norris and is dated Birmingham 1908. It is modelled as a trowel and has a very pretty embossed handle. The blade fully hallmarked. Crisford & Norris made unique silver items during the late Victorian era and the early part of the 20th Century. Their speciality being, pin cushions, babies rattles, bookmarks, nurses buckles and other numerous novelty silver items.

This exquisite and very rare Georgian silver travelling corkscrew is dated Birmingham 1794 and was made by the prolific silversmith John Taylor, who specialised in small pieces and objects of vertu.

The silver collar with a stunning green stained ivory barrel-shaped handle. The reeded cover unscrews to reveal the original steel helix. The cover is fully hallmarked at the base, which is quite unusual and is a bonus.
