Description
This superb and rather unusual Arts & Craft solid silver large basket bears the marks of James Dixon & Sons and is dated Sheffield 1902. Of navette shape, the crenelated sides with pierced alternate panels. The lower section with spot-hammered decorations. The base engraved with a stylised garland. It has an excellent silver gauge and feels satisfyingly heavy when picked up. the underside fully hallmarked.Hallmarks:
JD&S for James Dixon & Sons.
Sheffield Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "k" for 1902.
Condition:
Very good.
Minor surface wear, commensurate with age.
