Description
These stunning Georgian Old Sheffield plate telescopic candlesticks were made circa 1800. Telescopic candlesticks are rather scarce and very sought-after. The telescopic mechanism allowing to choose the height of the candlesticks. Each plain column is decorated with gadroon borders and raised on a circular base. To raise the candlestick, rotate the upper section of the column clockwise, to lower it, rotate anti-clockwise.Both fitted with the original detachable drip pans. The base with green felt.
Condition:
Very good.
Mechanism in very good order for the age, Both candlesticks stay firmly in place when up.
A little copper showing through at places, commensurate with age and adding to the patina.
