Description
This delightful solid silver trinket box was made by the renowned Henry Matthews and is dated Birmingham 1898. Of navette form, the cover and sides decorated with panels of embossed scrolls and foliage between concave spacers . Both sode and over with a vacant cartouche. The partially hallmarked piano hinged cover opening to reveal the original pale gilt interior.Hallmarks:

Birmingham Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "y" for 1898.
