Description
This stunning silver mounted ruby glass scent bottle with solid silver spring-cap lid bears teh marks of George Brace and dates circa 1860. The ovoid glass body a rich ruby colour, the neck with a spring and catch mounted engraved hinged silver gilt top with vacant cartouche. Early spring-cap mechanisms is claimed to have been invented by Thomas Diller (1828-1851) and is indicative of only the best quality pieces. It is a very tactile piece of wonderful quality.

Makers marks GB fort George Brace who specialised in perfume bottles and vanity set tops & fittings.

Very good.
Glass body in very good condition, minor surface wear commensurate with age.
Glass in the inner neck in good condition, no cracks.
