Description
This very distinctive and rather fabulous Victorian silver mustard was made by the celebrated William Comyns and is dated London 1891. Of square form, the body intricately pierced with satyrs and putti in a foliate landscape. The flat hinged cover embossed with a bird in flight. The cast handle in the form of a mythical creature. Fitted with the original blue glass liner and sold with a gorgeous solid silevr Albany pattern condiment spoon with gilt shell bow. The spoon dated London 1886.Hallmarks:
W.C for William Comyns.
London Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "Q" for 1891.
