Description
This delightful 18th Century silver & tortoiseshell etui* is of octagonal form and is charmingly inlaid with a bright-cut silver motifs and a silver flowerhead to the lid. The hinged lid opening to reveal a fitted interior complete with a silver lidded cut glass scent bottle and the original ear wax spoon. Two of the implements have gone missing with time.Push button mechanism at the front.
In Georgian times, etuis* - word of French origin - were very popular, they were small, usually ornamental cases for holding articles such as needles, scent bottles, vanity items .

Diameter at base: 3cm / 1.2 inches.
Condition:
Very good for the age.
Tortoiseshell in good condition. No loss, minor hairline, a little dull at places.
Glass scent bottle in good condition.
Silver pique work in excellent condition.
