Description
This is a beautiful, early Victorian, mould-blown glass celery vase*. Of baluster form with an everted rim and fluted sides. The short baluster emanating from a wide circular base with smooth pontil mark.* Celery was highly prized in the 19th Century and was considered to aid sufferers of rheumatism. It was also very hard to grow in private gardens so was a demonstration of wealth if you could afford to buy it in for a dinner guest. Today, celery vases are perfect for cut flowers from the garden.

Diameter of foot: 12.5 cm / 5 inches.
Condition:
Very good.
No chips or cracks
Minor bloom at places.
