Description

This stunning Mid-Victorian silver sugar or sweetmeat basket was made by Henry Wilkinson, an important Sheffield silversmith and is dated 1861.
Of generous proportion, the vase-shaped silver body elaborately pierced with scrolls surrounding a shield-shaped cartouche.
The sides with an articulated beaded handle.
The lobed rim with beaded border.
Raised on a petal-shaped pedestal foot with pierced alternate panels.
Fitted with the original cranberry glass liner.
Hallmarks:
HW & Co for Henry Wilkinson & Co
Lion Passant.
Duty Mark.
Sheffield Assay mark.
Date letters "T" for 1861.
Condition:
Very good condition.
No losses to the pierced decorations.
Foot and handle in excellent condition.
Glass in perfect condition.
