Description

This is a wonderful little patch box made by the renowned Birmingham toy maker * Joseph Willmore and dates circa 1790/ 1800. it is of circular form, the pull-off cover engraved with leaves and flowers on a finely textured background. Vacant circular reserve.
The back engraved with a flower sprig. It is partially hallmarked, just the maker's marks, as was very common in the Georgian era with small items of vertu.
Hallmarks:
JW for Joseph Willmore on both lid and base.
Condition:
Excellent. No dings, no dents.
Dimensions:
Diameter: 3cm / 1.2 inches.
Georgian patch boxes are few and far between, not as readily found as vinaigrettes or snuff boxes, this is a delightful example.
