Description

This is a stunning silver mounted turned wood mazer* bowl made in Birmingham 1935 by the highly collectable A. E. Jones. Of circular form, the silver lining and rim with a spot-hammered finish. The raised girdle engraved with geometric patterns and sitting under a rope-twist border interspersed with silver balls.

Lion Passant.
Date letter "K" for 1928.
Silver Jubilee Mark.

Diameter: 11cm / 4.3 inches.
Height: 6cm / 2.2 inches.
Condition:

Slight retraction to the wooden bowl, commensurate with age.

* Mazer are shallow bowls without handles, used to be popular for royal and noble households as drinking vessels in medieval times. Although “mazer” stands for “maple wood”, they were made of various woods, and often decorated with rims of precious metals.
