Description
This exquisite Edwardian solid silver pill box is embossed with an iris, a flower very often depicted in the Art Nouveau movement. Made by the renowned Henry Matthews , it is dated Birmingham 1908. Of serpentine form, the embossed hinged cover with gilt interior. The sides and base plain. The inner box lined with Royal blue satin. The underside with Morocco leather.Hallmarks:
H.M for Henry Matthews.
Birmingham Assay Mark.
Lion Passant
Date letter "l" for 1908.
Condition:
Good.
A few minor dings here and there.
Good hinge.
Clean interior.
