Description

This delightful 19th C. French Palais Royal* miniature cranberry glass scent bottle is contained in its egg-shaped casket box. The cranberry glass discoidal body mounted with a foliate bronze hinged lid. The scent bottle nestled in a pale duck-egg blue satin liner. The white opaline egg casket with an ormolu hinge mount. The egg mounted on a wirework stand with openwork handles. The wirework base raised on four legs. A rare and gorgeous item.
* Palais Royal is a term used to describe, not a single manufacturer, but to a name given to a small area around the Royal Palace that specialised in producing small elaborate works of art and gifts in the 18th and 19th centuries.
