Description

This exquisite spot-hammered Arts & Craft small silver quaich was made by the illustrious William Hutton and retailed by the Arts & Craft specialist George Lawrence Connell*. The hammered circular bowl with pierced thistle decorations. The underside engraved: "Connell, 83, Cheapside, London"
*G.L. Connell is credited with introducing "modern, artistic silverware" to the firm's wares from the late 1890s. The Connells specialised in retailing Arts & Crafts silver. Both their own and that of A.E.Jones, W. Haseler, and W. Hutton.
Hallmarks:
WH&S LD for William Hutton & Sons.
London Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letters "g" for 1899.
The underside engraved:
