Description

This is a rare and exquisite Georgian silver folding silver fruit fork & knife set. Both knife and fork with tortoiseshell handles inset with silver decorations and boasting reeded silver ferrules. Each engraved blade partially hallmarked; ie no maker's mark or date letter, which was very often the case with fruit knives and forks. This is a rarely seen set.
Hallmarks:
Duty Mark (George III)
Lion Passant.
Dimensions:
Fork: 14 cm / 5.4 inches open.
7.5cm / 3 inches closed.
Knife: 13cm / 5.1 inches open.
Condition:
Very good condition for the age.
No damage to the tortoiseshell.
Dual folding spring mechanism in very good working order on the fork a little soft on the knife.
A bit of wear on knife ferrule.
Good clear hallmarks.
