Description

This small and unusual Victorian silver chatelaine scent bottle originates from Hanau and bears the marks the renowned German silversmith Simon Rosenau alongside a full set of English imports hallmarks. Of oval form, embossed on one side with a gentleman and on the other with a lady. The sides with ring attachments and chain to hang on a chatelaine. The pull-off lid with cork, suspended too on a smaller chain.

On both sides of the scent:
Hanau silver marks of Simon Rosenau.
Silver purity mark of 930.
On the neck.
S.B.L for Samuel Boyce Boaz Landeck (Importer of foreign silver, Campden Square, London)
Sheffield Assay Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "b" for 1894.
Import Marks.
