Description
This charming silver and pique tortoiseshell "souvenir" aide memoire or carnet de bal was made in France circa 1880. Of rounded rectangular form, the front inlaid with silver pique decorations surrounding an initialled cartouche. The back inlaid with a small silver motif. The original pencil slides out and allows the opening of the case. The interior with teal moire silk. The original pages with days of the week preceded by a souvenir notebook. Exquisite!Hallmarks:
Unmarked but tested as silver.
