Description
This impressive Edwardian silver sweetmeat basket or sugar vase was made by the renowned William Comyns and is dated London 1909. Of medium to large size, the wirework silver body applied with exquisite cast silver ribbon-tied trailing flowers. The sides with an articulated wirework handle with conforming decorations. The rim with gadroon border. The solid silver base fitted with the original pale amethyst glass liner. The liner a rather unusual and sought-after colour. It is a very refined piece of silver, the quality is wonderful and it bears the marks of a very collectable silversmith.

Date letter "o" for 1909.

No losses to the pierced decorations.
