Description
This very unusual and rather delightful cased set comprises a solid silver butter knife and matching bread fork. Made by the renowned Elkington & Co, it is dated Birmingham 1899. Silver bread forks are rare, they are usually silver plated. The butter knife blade has a beautiful scalloped form. It is utterly Victorian in style, profusely engraved and embossed with foliate scroll motifs. The case fitted with a gorgeous green velvet and satin interior, showcasing the silver set beautifully.Hallmarks:
