Description

This is a very elegant Georgian silver and overlay glass dressing table jar. It bears the marks of John Douglas and is dated London 1811. The panelled ruby glass body sliced-cut to clear glass in arch patterns. The top fitted with a heavy gauge silver lid. The lid with reeded borders and engraved with a laurel wreath, very much a design of time. The inner lid hallmarked. The underside with a stunning sunburst design.

ID for John Douglas.
Duty Mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "Q" for 1811.

Diameter: 7.5cm / 3 inches.
Condition:
Very good.
No chips or cracks to the main body.
