Description
This gorgeous pierced silver sugar basket is dated Chester 1896 and nears the marks of the renowned Nathan & Hayes. The navette-shaped body exquisitely pierced with lattice and foliate scrolls surrounding two cartouches, one side vacant, the other engraved with a griffin.Reeded border and swing handle. The handle hallmarked with Lion passant.
It is fitted with the original and rather beautiful turquoise soda glass liner. A rare colour.
Good silver gauge, wonderful quality.

Chester Assay Mark.
Date letter "N" for 1896.
