Description
This is an exquisite 18th Century Dutch silver peppermint box. Early 18th Century Dutch peppermint boxes are few and far between and this is a lovely example in wonderful condition. Of serpentine form, the sides and cover embossed with pastoral scenes, cherubs and courting couples. The base with continental hallmarks, most probably Dutch. Peppermint boxes are of Dutch origin and the decorations are very much in the Dutch Rococo style.Hallmarks:
