Description

This is a very desirable Victorian silver plated biscuit box. This type of biscuit boxes are very sought-after and were very much a feature in Victorian households. They were designed to warm biscuits by an open fire for afternoon tea.
The shell-shaped body with an elegant cast frame surmounted by a loop handle. Each side with a wreath-shaped pull handle opening to reveal two compartment, each compartment fitted with a pierced grille which opens and falls down in the centre to keep biscuits in place while the box is being used.
Raised on very decorative cast splayed feet.
