Description
This delightful mid-Victorian silver plated cruet set is naturalistically modelled as a donkey drinking from a trough. The body is struck with the "Victorian Lozenge" which not only certifies the registered patent of an item but allows the identification of the exact date of its registration, in this particular case, the 25th March 1869.The cast donkey standing on naturalistic base and drinking from a trough which is in fact a removable open salt with a rich gilt interior.
The saddle fitted with both pepper pot and mustard pot with matching spoon.
The centre with a removable carrying handle with loop finial.
A beautifully executed and quirky condiment set.
