Description

This wonderful and unusual Victorian silver mounted crocodile skin vesta case bears the maker's marks of Edward J. Carnelly, who was a Mount maker. Of rounded rectangular form it has a sprung cover and striker to base. The crocodile skin covered body with hallmarked circular medallion.
It snaps shut beautifully.
Hallmarks:
E.J.C for Edward J. Carnelly.
Birmingham Assay mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "x" for 1897.
Dimensions and weight:
5cm x 3.5cm.
1.6 inches x 1.3 inches.
Condition:
Very good.
No tear to the crocodile skin, just very minor wear at places.
Strong hinge.
Spring mechanism in full working order.
Good hallmarks.
