Description
This wonderful and unusual Victorian silver mounted crocodile skin vesta case bears the maker's marks of Edward J. Carnelly, who was a Mount maker. Of rounded rectangular form it has a sprung cover and striker to base. The crocodile skin covered body with hallmarked circular medallion.It snaps shut beautifully.

E.J.C for Edward J. Carnelly.
Birmingham Assay mark.
Lion Passant.
Date letter "x" for 1897.
Dimensions and weight:
5cm x 3.5cm.
1.6 inches x 1.3 inches.
Condition:
Very good.
No tear to the crocodile skin, just very minor wear at places.
Strong hinge.
Spring mechanism in full working order.
Good hallmarks.
